Inspired by the need to address the limited scope of educational possibilities for at risk youth in Victoria, Jon’s first venture into independent education was The Jon Carnegie School.

In 2021, Jon reopened his doors under the newly minted banner, Riverside Grammar School. An independent, co-educational school in Hawthorn, Victoria. Riverside Grammar’s program is entrepreneurially driven, and focuses on developing free thinking, solution oriented, independent thinkers. 

A progression of the program Jon developed throughout nearly two decades of educating young people through The Carnegie School, Riverside Grammar is an alternative model to the mainstream education system. 

The school is geared toward young people who haven’t found their place within the mainstream model, and who thrive in a more individualised program. A program that nurtures their own unique skills and attributes, and supports them to explore their individual interests alongside their studies.
